How We Support Tomorrow’s Entrepreneurs

We don’t want to gush about it, but we absolutely love the qualities that make for a successful entrepreneur. In our eyes, entrepreneurs must be innovative, determined, focused, highly motivated, hard working, and above all… courageous. In fact, we encourage those very qualities in our staff when we ask them to “own” their work and to find new ways to be more productive on behalf of our clients. We believe these are the same attributes that successful entrepreneurs must have.

That’s why we are so proud to support the Howard Community College Center for Entrepreneurial and Business Excellence (CEBE). The Center offers students A.A. and A.A.S. degrees, as well as Certificates and Letters of Recognition for Entrepreneurial studies. As part of the program, students receive one-to-one guidance and support from a business coach, a full curriculum of classes that include experiential learning, mentoring, and team project work, and business office space on campus where students get to work on their start-up business.

We are also proud to be the sponsor of another long-time benefit offered to students of the CEBE, which is to participate in what was previously known as the “Rocket Pitch” and is now called the “Pinnacle Pitch.  This gives students the opportunity to pitch their business ideas in an environment similar to the wildly popular Shark Tank television show. Students have three minutes to sell their idea to a panel of judges from the business community who award first, second, and third place prizes. According to Betty Noble, Director of CEBE, students compete in class for the opportunity to present. About one third of the students then go on to the next stage of the program, which is an in-depth feasibility study where they conduct a detailed market analysis to determine the viability of their business idea.

Winners not only receive prize money that they can use for their business or to pay for college credits, but they also have the opportunity to visit Pinnacle Advisory Group headquarters and perform their business pitch for our staff. Needless to say, the entire company looks forward to our visits from the entrepreneurs.

Pinnacle’s support of the CEBE at Howard Community College, and our sponsorship of the Pinnacle Pitch, reflects our commitment to institutions that elevate the principles we hold dear.

NOTE: No client assets are invested in contestant business ideas.
